Time is moving forward at a steady pace and September is when we resume many of our usual church activities, such as the lovely blended voices of the Chancel Choir, the intimate relaxing mood of Miriam Circle and sharing our stories in the Writing Group.
The highlights as we start the month are the Rummage Sale on Sept. 4–5, with thanks for all the hard work by so many that goes into this event, then on Sept. 8 the start of a 10-week Bible Study, “The Epic of Eden.”
We have recently had Celebration of Life services for several of our dear and faithful friends. The memories and words of love spoken at these services bring to mind the question: What legacy will we leave?
What is there about each of our lives and how we have lived it that will be in the hearts of those still living? I think we all want to be remembered for our parenting, kindness, compassion, generosity, and friendships, but above all our belief in God and continuously trying to follow the teachings of Jesus.
It’s not too late for any of us to keep working, each in their own way, for peace and love, as that is almost contagious to those around us. Reflect on the eloquent words to the song “It Is Well with My Soul.” Let’s strive for that.
